SecessionThe South secedes from the Union. Senators come together to think of a compromise and convince the South to stay together. Many Southern states left and joined together as the Confederate States of America.

EffectNortherners thought the South did not want to live by the rules of democracy. Southerners thought that the Northerners would use their majority power to force the South to abolish slavery. The Crittenden Plan/Compromise didn't pass. Lincoln was commissioned and wanted to preserve the Union, so therefore he didn't push the South but he resupplied the troops in the South.
